A PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL FOR ALL STUDENTS

The mission of the MECCA Business Learning Institute (MBLI) is to be a center of excellence for college preparation and vocational training for middle school students - welcoming both students who are passionate about business and those who are just beginning to explore their interests. Whether you have a keen interest in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership or are simply curious about what business is all about, MBLI provides the guidance, skills, and opportunities needed to help every student succeed in their academic and career journey.

We are the MECCA Business Learning Institute West Virginia (MBLI WV)—a community-focused public charter school dedicated to transforming education for middle school students. Whether you're passionate about business or exploring your interests, MBLI WV will provide a supportive and dynamic learning environment where every student can grow into a confident, skilled leader. With nearly two decades of experience working with youth, we understand what it takes to empower the next generation.

Our Mission

At MBLI WV, we are committed to being a center of excellence, offering both college preparation and vocational training in business, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership for middle school students. We believe in helping every student succeed—whether they dream of becoming an entrepreneur, a leader, or are just beginning to discover their potential.


What We Are Planning - Our Goals:

  • Finalizing Setup and Launch: We are preparing to open our doors in Fall 2025.

  • Ensuring Financial Stability: We aim to build a sustainable future by overcoming operational challenges.

  • Implementing Personalized Learning: We will use data-driven strategies to support every student's individual success.

  • Expanding Learning Opportunities: We plan to offer extended school hours and enrichment programs to encourage growth.

  • Enhancing Quality Assurance: Continuous improvement will be a key focus to ensure program effectiveness.


When and Where We Plan to Start

MBLI WV will be located at 4803 Gerrardstown Road, Inwood, and will welcome students starting in Fall 2025. We will begin with middle school grades 6 and 7, adding one grade each year until we reach high school grade 12. Our commitment is to foster a diverse and supportive environment for all students, including those who are at-risk, English Language Learners, and students with varying abilities.


Why We Are Doing This

MBLI West Virginia was introduced as part of the state's broader education improvement efforts, following the West Virginia Governor’s 2019 call for innovative education solutions. The school is designed to address the need for career-focused education that prepares students for the evolving workforce. While STEM education has advanced significantly, many students still lack clear pathways into fields like business, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

MBLI West Virginia is purposed to fill this gap. Building on the experience and dedication of MBEF College & Career Academies (MECCA), which has long supported young people through after-school leadership programs and career readiness initiatives, MBLI WV extends this mission into the regular school day. Our goal is to create lasting change by providing students with a business-focused education that equips them for success in school, the workforce, and life.
