Governing Board

As the MECCA Business Learning Institute (MBLI) West Virginia progresses toward its official opening, the current Board of Directors will transition into the school’s Governing Board. Once the school opens, this Governing Board will oversee its operational and strategic leadership. The Governing Board will be critical in ensuring MBLI fulfills its mission of empowering students through education, career readiness, and entrepreneurship while maintaining compliance with all charter school requirements and regulations.

Key Responsibilities of the Governing Board

Once established, the Governing Board will:

  • Provide Strategic Oversight: Set the long-term vision and goals for the school, ensuring alignment with MBLI’s mission.

  • Ensure Academic Excellence: Oversee the implementation of MBLI’s innovative, business-focused curriculum and monitor student achievement.

  • Maintain Fiscal Accountability: Approve budgets, review financial reports, and ensure sustainable funding to support school operations.

  • Support Fundraising Efforts: Actively engage in fundraising initiatives to secure resources for the school’s growth and success.

  • Governance and Policy Development: Establish policies and procedures to ensure operational excellence and compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Build Community Partnerships: Foster relationships with local businesses, community leaders, and stakeholders to enhance opportunities for students and families.

Transition Process

Before the school’s opening, the current Board of Directors will:

  • Establish the structure and framework for the Governing Board.

  • Recruit additional members with the skills and expertise to guide the school’s operations post-launch.

  • To ensure a seamless transition, finalize governance documents, including bylaws, policies, and roles.

This transition ensures the school is prepared to operate effectively and fulfill its charter goals upon opening.
