At MECCA Business Learning Institute (MBLI), we are excited to welcome students who are eager to learn, grow, and engage in our unique business and entrepreneurship-focused education. Our open enrollment policy allows all eligible students to apply, regardless of academic background, and we strive to make the application process as straightforward and accessible as possible for families.
Who Can Apply?
MBLI is a public charter middle school that, at full enrollment, will serve students in grades 6 through 8. Our open enrollment policy welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and academic experiences. Families interested in applying for enrollment should meet the following criteria:
Grade Eligibility: Students entering grades 6 or 7 in Fall 2025 are eligible to apply.
Residency: MBLI accepts applications from students residing in Berkeley County, West Virginia, as well as surrounding counties.
We encourage families to apply early, as space is limited, and a lottery system may be used if applications exceed available spots.
Application Process
The application process for MBLI is designed to be simple and accessible. Follow these steps to apply:
Submit an Online Application: Visit our school website to complete the online application form. The application will ask for basic student information, parent/guardian contact details, and grade level. No admissions tests or prior academic performance are required to apply.
Application Deadlines: Be sure to submit your application by the specified deadline. Applications received after the deadline may be placed on a waiting list if all available spots are filled.
Lottery Process (If Necessary): If the number of applications exceeds the number of available spaces, MBLI will use a random lottery system to ensure a fair and equitable enrollment process. The lottery will be conducted publicly, and families will be notified of their child’s admission status shortly after the lottery is held.
Enrollment Confirmation: Once admitted, families will receive an enrollment packet that must be completed to confirm their child’s enrollment at MBLI. This packet will include required forms, such as proof of residency, emergency contact information, and health records. It is important to submit these materials by the specified deadline to secure your child’s spot.
Enrollment for Siblings
We understand the importance of keeping siblings together in the same school. MBLI offers sibling preference in the lottery process. If a sibling is already enrolled at MBLI, priority will be given to their brothers or sisters during the enrollment process, space permitting.
Waitlist Information
If your child is not admitted during the initial lottery, they will be placed on a waiting list. As spaces become available, families on the waitlist will be contacted in the order their application was received. Waitlisted families are encouraged to complete the enrollment process promptly once a spot becomes available.
